Days on the Hill

Make Sure Your Voice is Heard

Advocacy is a cornerstone of American Advertising Federation District 6 and our commitment to protecting and advancing the advertising industry across Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. Through our rotating District 6 State Days on the Hill and active participation in the national Advertising Day on the Hill hosted by the AAF in Washington, D.C., we ensure our members have a direct voice in the legislative decisions that shape our profession. From state capitols to Capitol Hill, AAF is dedicated to building relationships with policymakers, advocating for pro-industry policies, and driving meaningful change that supports agencies, media organizations, brands, and the communities we serve.

State Days on the Hill

State Days on the Hill is a new regional advocacy initiative led by American Advertising Federation District 6 that brings the spirit of national Advertising Day on the Hill to the state level, where much of the legislation directly impacting agencies, media companies, and small businesses is actually shaped.

Beginning with Michigan in 2026, followed by Indiana in 2027 and Illinois in 2028, the program will rotate annually through the three District 6 states to ensure consistent, coordinated engagement with state legislators. Each year, advertising and marketing professionals like you will gather at their respective state capitols for policy briefings and scheduled meetings with lawmakers to discuss issues such as taxation, workforce development, digital advertising policy, and commercial free speech. By creating a predictable, rotating advocacy presence, District 6 strengthens the industry’s unified voice across the Midwest while building long-term relationships with policymakers in each state.

More information on our inaugural State Days on the Hill will be coming later this year!

Advertising Day on the Hill

The wildly successful national AAF Advertising Day on the Hill is an annual advocacy event hosted by the American Advertising Federation that brings advertising and marketing professionals to Washington, D.C., to meet directly with members of Congress and their staff.

The annual event gives industry leaders, agency owners, media professionals, and students the opportunity to discuss how advertising fuels economic growth, supports local businesses, protects jobs, and sustains a free and competitive marketplace. Through policy briefings, coordinated Hill visits, and issue-focused conversations, participants advocate for responsible legislation on matters such as taxation, data privacy, and commercial free speech.

Advertising Day on the Hill reinforces the industry’s unified voice and demonstrates the vital role advertising plays in driving innovation and strengthening communities nationwide.
